The Customs Union brought a number of positive moments for individuals, who are in the greatest benefit from its launch. This opinion was expressed by Deputy Chairman of State Customs Committee of Belarus, Vasily Dementei, answering the questions of deputies at a meeting of the Standing Committee of the House of Representatives for international affairs and ties with the CIS.
«In particular, now they can import duty-free 1.5 thousand euro and 50 kilograms of goods (one thousand euro and 35 kilograms before). Moreover, it is possible to import duty free up to ten thousand dollars, when previously it was allowed to bring only three thousand dollars», BelTA quotes Vasily Dementei.
According to Deputy Chairman of the SCC, it has caused significant surge of goods imports from Europe, household appliances in particular Moreover, Vasily Dementei emphasized the quality of work and equipment of the customs service of Belarus, which are incomparably better than in Russia and Kazakhstan.
«For example, 90% of domestic economic entities, operating for export, use electronic declaration. Our neighbors within the Customs Union are still far enough from such indicators», the representative of the SCC stressed.
Deputy Chairman of the committee suggested that there might appear problems with customs declaration in Russia since the country’s territory is very large, and «it is difficult to control how the goods to be imported, for example, at Far East, and how they to undergone customs clearing».
