The Ministry of Internal Affairs suggested introducing a curfew for minors. It has already applied to the legislators with its proposals for the development of the law, prohibiting minors to be in public places after 23:00 without parents or other relatives.

As noted in the prevention management of the Interior Ministry,  similar restrictive rules for teens used to act in various regions of Belarus, which is proved by various documents, adopted at the local level.

The Interior Ministry believes that the imposition of curfews across the country would be an additional measure to prevent juvenile delinquency. According to authorities, teenagers are breaking the law mainly in the evening or at night, BelTA informs.

About 15 thousand minors are currently registered. However, juvenile crime rate has been reduced by 41.3% since 2006, informed the Ministry of Interior.

Meanwhile, as Telegraf previously reported, certain steps for the introduction of curfews for teenagers have already been taken. So, new regulation of the Administrative Code, prohibiting minors to be on the night discos, cultural and recreational clubs after 22:00, entered into force on January 12, 2011. In case of violation of this law, the owners of nightclubs must pay 10 — 50 base units (up to Br1.75 million) of fine.
