Iran to Implement $1.5-Billion Projects in Belarus

Iranian investors will implement projects of about $1.5 billion in Belarus. This was stated by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Belarus Seyyed Abdollah Hosseini on February 10. According to him, Iran is interested in developing investment cooperation with Belarus. Thus, the diplomat informed that the new projects of over $1 billion worth are currently under negotiation.

Seyyed Abdollah Hosseini said that the Iranian company Kayson in Belarus has successfully implemented a project for the construction of «Magnet-Minsk,» estimated at €250 million. This very company is building a freight-logical center «Prilesje» in the free economic zone «Minsk,» BelTA informs.

Another Iranian company Persipolis Invest plans to construct a five star hotel in Minsk. The total project’s cost would be $150 million by the preliminary assessment. The Iranian company Didaks intends to engage in investment projects in Brest, Homel and Svetlahorsk.

Iranian ambassador called the construction of a tourist hotel complex near Zaslavski storage pool among other promising investment projects. Iran plans to invest about $1.5 billion in this project. Seyyed Abdollah Hosseini also outlined plans of Iranian companies to produce metal wire in Rechitsa, as well as to build a cement plant in Homel voblast.

Iran Plans to Supply Oil to Belarus by Swap Schemes

The Iranian ambassador also says that Belarus and Iran are discussing the possibility of the Iranian oil supplies to Belarus by swap schemes with Azerbaijan and Russia. The parties are currently considering the economic feasibility of such supplies.

«There are no restrictions on the Iranian oil sale to Belarus, but we need to find the most efficient scheme,» said Seyyed Abdollah Hosseini.

Iranian Diplomat Informed that Belarus Actually Began Oil Production in Iran.

According to him, 15 thousand barrels of oil are produced in the Iranian oil field Jofeir every day with Belarus’s participation. Meanwhile, volumes of daily oil production are planned to double during the second phase of the Belarusian-Iranian project’s implementation. Seyyed Abdollah Hosseini said that the oil, found in the Jofeir, is sold through the retail network of the Iranian trading house in the Iranian oil company.

Moreover, the Iranian ambassador said Iran was ready to grant a new field for development to Belarus, if the Belarusian side is willing so.
