Iran is Trying to Revive Car Production in Belarus

May 6, Industries and Mines Minister, Ali-Akbar Mehrabian, arrives in Minsk. At a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart, Alexander Radzevich, the representative of Iranian government to discuss the expansion of joint Iranian Samand cars production in Belarus.

Moreover, Ali-Akbar Mehrabian will visit opening ceremony of Iranian plant on copper wire production, and also discuss with Alexander Radzevich a project on construction of Iran’s cement plant in Belarus, with a production capacity of 3.3 thousand tons per day, Tehran Times reports.

As Telegraf previously reported, in the last year, Unison Company in conjunction with Iranian company, Iran Khodro, produced 244 Samand passenger cars in Belarus. It was said by the financial director of Unison Company, Sergei Skomorokh. According to the company’s representative, 281 car of this brand are also sold in the country.

Financial director noted that over 90% of car buyers are legal entities. «The plan of production and sales, we have for this year, is to produce a thousand cars. But it will happen under the condition that delivery of vehicle sets is provided — then we’ll have what to assemble and sell», Sergei Skomorokh stressed.
