President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek said that it's planned to discuss the presidential elections in Belarus and the tough measures of President Alexander Lukashenko towards the opposition politicians in Brussels after the New Year on January 12. "It's important to keep putting pressure on Lukashenko's government at the highest level," the head of the EP.

The European Parliament will discuss the «process of the presidential elections and their consequences, including excessive or disproportionate use of force by the Belarusian authorities against the opposition presidential candidates and civil society activists,» Jerzy Buzek said, DELFI.

According to the politician, the meeting will be attended by members of the Subcommittee on Human Rights, Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament and representatives of the delegation in Belarus in the «Eastern Partnership.»
