The Belarusian authorities have decided to check households on a quarterly basis to obtain more detailed information about jobless citizens. The survey will be based on the methodology of the International Labor Organization of statistics authorities. This was reported by Minister of Labor and Social Protection Marianna Shchetkina.

Belstat is going to organize the first trial in November 2011 making them regular from 2012. «We have conducted preliminary work to develop a mechanism for such research,» «Narodnaya Gazeta» quoted Marianna Shchetkina.

According to her, research will help «develop specific targeted measures.»

Wages Rise with 5% Rise of Prices, Shchetkina

Speaking of wages indexing, Marianna Shchetkina noted that the increase in consumer price index goes hand in hand with employment wage in the public sector indexed by 5% since February and by 11.9% since April.

The Minister explained that the salary is subject to indexation in case the consumer price index, calculated on an accrual basis since the last indexing, is above 5%.

«The income is indexed within 100% of the approved budget of cost of living per capita at the time of indexing (it reached Br296.87 in February, Br343.26 thousand in April). Part of the income in excess of that amount is not subject to indexing,» Marianna Shchetkina.

According to Telegraf, financial analyst Sergei Chaly believes that if the Belarusian authorities decide to hold the indexation of wages against the background of the total increase in commodity prices, this will lead to new growth in the dollar and euro rate.
