By the fact of explosion in Minsk subway, Attorney General's Office initiated criminal proceedings under Article 289 Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Belarus ("Terrorism"). As reported by the Centre of Information and Public Relations Committee of State Security, the investigation has obtained data about the most probable performer of the explosion. He is currently wanted.
In accordance with the legislation of Belarus, a system of government response to acts of extremism has been introduced. The KGB has created Republican operative staff, headed by the department chairman, Vadim Zaitsev. The investigation group, operating at the scene, is headed by Deputy Prosecutor General of Belarus Andrei Shved. As Telegraf previously reported, there was explosion of an unidentified explosive device at «Kastrychnitskaya» station in Minsk subway at 17:55 on April 11, 2011. According to expert estimates, the power of an explosive device in the TNT was five kilograms. The device, packed with chopped fittings, nails of 80×8 mm and metal balls of 15 mm in diameter, was found at the benches on the platform of the station.
According to official figures, the death toll reached has 12 people at 2:30 on April 12. 149 people applied to the health facility for medical care (22 of them are in serious condition, 30 — with injuries of moderate severity).
