Transshipment of Venezuelan oil to Belarus will be entrusted to the most economically advantageous port or terminal. In the port of Ventspils (Latvia), it could be carried out by the Ltd Ventspils nafta terminals (VNT). This was stated by Imants Sarmulis, the port manager of Ventspils.

«A major requisite is, certainly, the willingness of the port terminals themselves to handle these goods, but the customer will have the final word on the basis of economic results, which comprise freight ships, terminal and rail expenses,» port manager said, reports IA «REGNUM-Belarus».

Imants Sarmulis also noted that the Ventspils can accommodate vessels of different capacity, but not the port itself will deal with transshipment, so the decision to transport Venezuelan crude oil should be taken by VNT.

«The port of Ventspils and the port of Muuga have their advantages for transshipment of Venezuelan oil, as they are able to make fully loaded ships of the «Aframax» type», Imants Sarmulis added.
