Managed by the state Lithuanian oil transshipment company, Klaipedos nafta, plans to receive a tanker with 80 tons of Venezuelan oil of Santa Barbara sort for Belarus in autumn. According to the head of Lithuanian company, Rokas Masiulis, now there are negotiations with the Belarusian side on the issue.

«We are negotiating with Belarusians and discussing a trial consignment — it’s seems that we need additional investment for that, but we must study chemical composition of the product and its impact on the environment. But we are likely to receive trial consignment», Reuters quotes Rokas Masiulis.

Belarus plans to import about two million tons of oil — about 160 thousand tons per month through Klaipeda port. Klaipedos nafta pumps this amount in three months, so there is a concern if the terminal has enough capacity to receive considerable amount of extra oil, Verslo zinios Lithuanian business newspaper stresses.

«Theoretically, we could transship not only these two million tons of oil, but even four million tons, but then we have to decide what to do with Orlen Lietuva goods, we would be unable to receive them», the head of Klaipedos nafta stated.

Now, Orlen Lietuva goods amount to about 60% of total loadings of Klaipedos nafta.
