Lithuania: Oil Pumping Through Belarus Depends On Many Factors

Possibility to resume pumping oil from Russia to Lithuania by Druzhba pipeline that passes through territory of Belarus, depends on many factors. Edminas Bagdonas- Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Lithuania to Belarus- said at a press conference in Minsk on 9th March.

«But today I can not say what would be decided and whether

will be allowed  to resume pumping oil through the Druzhba pipeline to the Mazeikiai refinery,» — said the diplomat, BelTA informs.


Edminas Bagdonas also recalled that after the sale of the plant to Polish investors

stopped due to «technical problems» and since 2006 the situation has not changed.



Lithuania is interested to expand cooperation with Belarus in the sphere of agriculture.


Edminas Bagdonas reported that currently there are new opportunities for the expansion of the Belarusian-Lithuanian cooperation in the field of agriculture with assistance of the EU funds.


» Belarusian tractors and other farm equipment are well known in the Lithuanian market.
I think that we have so many opportunities for cooperation in this sphere «, — said Ambassador of Lithuania to Belarus.


According to the ambassador, it is projects that include the organization of agricultural production at the European level to obtain the relevant certificates for its realization on the European markets.


«During the misunderstanding between Belarus and Russia on the supply of dairy products, we also did not sit idly by, we were looking for forms of cooperation with Belarus», — said Edminas Bagdonas.


«The leaders of our agriculture departments discussed the programs and projects on modernization of Belarusian dairy plants, — diplomat said. — In particular, the possibility of obtaining the European Certificate, which allows export of Belarusian products to the EU.»


Edminas Bagdonas also noted that Lithuania re-equiped its system of agricultural production for cooperation with European market long ago.


«We — the participants of a European network of production and marketing — would like to share our experiences with Belarus. I think it would be helpful to both you and us,» — said Lithuanian Ambassador.

Grybauskaite’s




invitation.


Lithuanian Ambassador to Belarus also reported that Belarusian leader did not made


yet


a formal response to the invitation of Lithuanian President Dali Grybauskaite to come to Vilnius for celebration of  the country’s independence on March 11.


As previously reported by Telegraf, it is expected that 


Alexander Lukashenko will make


decision on this issue shortly.



 

Presidents of Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Finland and Slovenia gave Confirmation of  their participation in the celebration of remarkable date. Acting President of Moldova Parliament Speaker Mihai Ghimpu also said about his participation, informs BelTA.

Lithuania will celebrate the 20th anniversary of adoption of  «The Act of the Re-Establishment of the State of Lithania» on March 11, 2010. On July 13, 2010 Lithuania will celebrate the 750th anniversary of the Battle of Durba, and July 15 — 600th anniversary of the Battle of Grunwald.
