Lukashenko Approves New Concept of National Security of Belarus

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko approved the concept of national security by a decree issue. The document defines the place and role of Belarus in the context of globalization of international relations, the press service said on Thursday, 11 November, and added that the new concept significantly expanded and itemized the factors of threats to the country's state security.

In particular, the document «divides the concepts of «threat» and «sources of threats,» both internal and external; a list of them is provided,» the presidential press service noted.

Main areas of national security are augmented by scientific-technological and demographic spheres. In addition, the press service added, the document first presented «basic national interests, representing aggregate needs of the state to implement the balanced interests of the individual, society and state.»

«The description of the current state of national security is significantly expanded, a new approach in relation to the construction of systems to ensure national security, is implemented,» the press-service said.

The concept also provides for the establishment of an integrated strategic planning system, the system of indicators of national security, characterizing the current level and the dynamics of change in various areas, are first introduced, the presidential press service of Belarus noted.
