President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has asked not to exaggerate the current Russian media campaign against Belarus. This was stated by the Belarusian leader after a meeting with Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite on October 20. "Do not magnify by the current squabble or even Russian mass media mobbing tactics towards Belarus," Alexander Lukashenko said.

The Head of State also recalled the recent words of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin that «families also face quarrels.» «We’ll build up the relations with Russia. But it must understand as any other country that Belarus is a sovereign and independent state and this state is to be. And if it’s a state, it should be built relations with, as it’s accustomed in international relations on reasonable basis,» BelTA quoted Alexander Lukashenko.

Alexander Lukashenko stressed that Belarus was not involved in this squabble. «Information wrangle is what we’ve got here, some Russian leaders, including the top, begin to give assessments — it’s their problem,» the head of state.

The Belarusian leader added that «we are not very concerned.» «First of all, we are concerned about the life of our people, which depends on the trade-economic relations, said Alexander Lukashenko. — Despite all the problems that exist in Russia, in particular the defense of its market, Belarus and Russia have demonstrated positive trade dynamics, which is about 50% growth rate. From the standpoint of economy, there is no disagreement between the two countries,» President of Belarus said.

«This minor dispute has left its imprint on some projects. But for Russia, anyone else will help then. Lithuania is likely to invest those projects, which Russia was to invest,» the President said.

The Belarusian leader also stressed that «Belarus and Russia are very important for each other». «We must build normal relationships, based on these pragmatic approaches. We’ll line them up. Everything will pass,» President Alexander Lukashenko assured.
