President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko hopes for objectivity of the Russian media about the situation in Belarus and the Belarusian-Russian relations. This was stated by the Head of the Belarusian State at the meeting with the heads of some Russian media on March 18. "Perhaps, it makes sense for us today to speak on the topics, exciting both the Belarusians and the Russians," said Alexander Lukashenko.

According to the Belarusian president, the situation in the media is «very specific, if not to say more.» «And we’d you to objectively inform the Russians about the relations between our countries,» BelTA quoted Alexander Lukashenko.

In addition, the President noted that he was «very carefully monitoring what’s happening in the media space of Russia, Belarus broadcasts Russia’s main channels.» At the same time the Belarusian president noted with regret that the only satellite channel «Belarus-TV» was very hard to implement in Russia.

«For example, when we asked them to show this channel in Moscow, we were asked about $20-25 million and a number of other conditions for this service, said Alexander Lukashenko. — It is not easy, but in some regions, where the Russian authorities are ready tocooperate, people have the opportunity to watch this channel and even broadcast news from Belarus. They can look at an alternative points of view, different from what is preached in the main Russian TV channels and some newspaper media. «

Belarusian President also admitted that he «hopes for unbiased coverage of today’s meeting by Russian journalists.» «For me, it is important to report objective information about our country to the Russian audience,» «Alexander Lukashenko said and «suggested the Russian journalists chosing the topics of today’s conversation themselves, adding that he’s ready to answer all questions.»
