President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said, when appointing Sergei Maskevich a new Minister of Education, that the new minister would have to "break nothing, but to polish." According to the President, the Belarusian system of education should be efficient and not cumbersome.

«You know my attitude to this system. We can not exist without it at all. We need educated and intelligent people,» the President stressed.

As reported by the presidential administration, Alexander Lukashenko considers legitimate the appointment of Sergei Maskevitch to a new position. «I wouldn’t say that the system lacks smart people. Still we need a hirsute professional, who has already looked at this system from aside,» the head of state said.

In turn, Sergei Maskevich notes that the Belarusian education system has all the prerequisites for a successful and sustainable development, ONT reports. However, some elements of system control, according to a new office head, should be simplified.
