Belarus has no plans to privatize Beltelecom. This was announced on October 29 by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, communicating with the residents of Brest, as well as with Beltelekom employees during his walk in the downtown area. The president noted that Beltelecom should perform better and withstand competition.

«If you do not try, we will sell you, but if you upgrade, work well and compete, we will reserve you in public ownership», BelTA quoted the Belarusian leader.
«Beltelecom should remain in public ownership as an alternative to know what’s happening in the industry. If we give you in private hands, we will not see the position of the state. Beltelecom must work harder to keep up with private owners. We will own you, but you are still operating worse than the foreign companies,» Alexander Lukashenko said
The president noted that in this issue all depends on the company’s employees themselves. «Why do we keep the loss-making business? So it all depends on you, you have to compete,» Alexander Lukashenko said.
The Belarusian leader also drew attention to the fact that it is necessary to increase the profitability of Beltelekom.
