Lukashenko Increases Scholarships by 11%

On August 17, the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, signed a decree № 425, which increased all kinds of state scholarships for students by 11%. Scholarships will be recounted from June 1 and for university students will amount — from 113.8 to 182.1 thousand rubles, for specialized colleges and vocational school students — from 95.5 to 152.8 thousand rubles.

The decree was adopted in order to improve social protection of students, stated on the occasion in the press service of the head of state.

Moreover, on August 17, Belarusian leader signed another document on youth. The decree № 427 «On amendments to presidential decrees № 354 from July 26, 2004 and № 565 from November 29, 2005» is aimed to create environment for professional growth and career development of gifted and talented youth.

Now, when forming reserve of governing cadres and prospective cadres reserve there will be also studied information on citizens, included in data banks of gifted and talented youth. Relevant changes and addenda are introduced in the presidential decree № 354 from July 26, 2004 «On the work with senior officials in state bodies and other state organizations».

Citizens, included in data banks of gifted and talented youth, are now entitled to get a priority right to have accommodation in a hostel of state housing stock for the period of study. This norm is fixed in addendum to the presidential decree № 565 «On some measures to regulate housing relations».
