Belarusian foreign debt limit, approved at the budget-2010, is rising from 9.5 billion up to 11 billion dollars. The respective decree № 245 was signed on May 13 by the head of state.

On April 1, 2010, the external state debt of the country was estimated at 8.4 billion dollars. Raising the limit up to $ 11 billion means that until the end of the year the authorities intend to borrow under the state guarantees about 2.5 billion dollars on foreign markets and from international financial organizations. It primarily considers the loans under a new program with the IMF and the placement of government bonds (Eurobonds), AFN informs.

The decree was signed the day after the work start of the next IMF mission in Minsk, while the fund representatives implied that they were ready to cooperate with Belarusian authorities within a new stand-by program.

However, before the IMF and Belarus come close to sign a new agreement, Belarusian authorities must comply with not only the obligations stated in the previous program, but a number of pre-program Fund’s requirements.
