President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko in his comments about Russia, "goes far beyond not only the diplomatic rules, but basic human decency as well." This was stated by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in his video blog recording.

Russian president is surprised with the Belarusian leadership adoption of an anti-Russian rhetoric. «The election campaign there is entirely built on anti-Russian plots, hysterical accusations of Russia’s unwillingness to support the Belarusians and the Belarusian economy, curses to the Russian leadership. A clear desire to embroil the States and, accordingly, the peoples, in quarrel is clearly seen behind all this,» Dmitry Medvedev believes.

«Streams of abuse and accusation are addressed to Russia and its leadership. This entire election campaign of Lukashenko is built on this basis. He is very much concerned about restoring order in our economic relations, Russian press communication with the Belarusian opposition, and even the fate of some of our high-ranking pensioners and retired officials,» the Russian president noted.

Lukashenko Should Deal with Internal Problems, Medvedev

However, Medvedev said that Alexander Lukashenko should deal with domestic problems.» «Including, finally, investigation of numerous cases of disappearances. Russia, as well as other countries, is not indifferent,» the Russian president explained.

According to the president of Russia, the Belarusian leadership has always been distinguished by the desire to create the image of an external enemy in the public consciousness. «This part was previously given to America, Europe, the West in general. And now Russia is declared as one of the main enemies,» Medvedev said.

However, the Russian leader is convinced that Russia has always treated and will treat the Belarusian people «as its closest neighbor.» In this regard Dmitriy Medvedev expressed confidence that «this senseless strain streak is sure to end.»

«Right now, Russia and Belarus, are the Union State partners. And both of our countries are also actively involved in the creation of a customs union, in the development of the EurAsEC, CSTO, the Commonwealth of Independent States. We intend to fully expand its cooperation with Belarus in the framework of these organizations. And we are certain to implement modern forms of economic interaction, and in full accordance with international practice of relations between such close allies, as our countries are,» Russian President underlined.

Russia has Given Tremendous Support to Belarus for 20 Years, Medvedev

«We’ve always helped the people of Belarus. In fact, since the collapse of the Soviet Union, which is almost 20 years, the volume of this support, whatever they say, is enormous. Just this year due to favorable oil supply, our assistance to Belarus amounted to almost $2 billion. Comparable subsidies are allocated in the Russian gas supply to Belarus. We do it, because we are convinced that our people are inseparably linked,» Medvedev said.

«I’d like to say openly: Russia is ready to develop allied relations with Belarus. Moreover, no matter who is the head of Russia and Belarus — our people will always be brothers. We want our citizens to live not in fear, but in the atmosphere of freedom, democracy and justice. And we are ready to go this way together with our Belarusian friend,» the Russian president summed up.
