Belarus should emerge from the crisis more modern and ready for fierce competition not in the pre-crisis but in already post-crisis world. This statement was made by Alexander Lukashenko on April 20, in his annual address to Belarusian people and the parliament. "This year, we have to completely overcome the effects of the global crisis, which has had negative impact on our economy, and at least restore the pre-crisis economic growth", the President said.

«2010 is literally key year in determining the future strategy of Belarus’ development», the head of state said. According to Alexander Lukashenko, despite the objective difficulties faced by the domestic economy, the state «does not deny the obligations assumed five years ago at the Third All-Belarus People’s Assembly».

The President noted that in recent years, Belarus has reached a lot, but «we can not move forward by inertia, without taking vigorous action, not setting new perspective and even ambitious goals». According to the head of state, today in the international arena, there is a revision of the principles of economic systems functioning, and «the prosperous is the one, which is continuously updating, absorbing the best of world’s experience».

The basic guideline in all areas is the quality, Lukashenko

«On how effectively and efficiently we will work this year, depends our prosperity and the movement towards economic and social progress», Alexander Lukashenko declared. According to the President, the basic guideline in all areas of activity is the quality of «as manufactured goods and services, so and management and human life».

«The issues of quality have always been among the top priorities for our country. But they get especial topicality in conditions of emerging from the global financial crisis», BelTA quotes the words of Alexander Lukashenko. «Because you know that we could not revert to old positions, since the consumer is constantly put forward new demands. Therefore, the economic system -which reaches higher productivity, product quality and lower production costs — would have an advantage on global scale».
