Lukashenko is Ready to Leave All Resentments on the U.S. in the Past

March 29, the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, during a meeting with the leadership of several major U.S. companies announced that Belarus is ready to leave all resentments on the U.S. in the past and start a new constructive relationship, not only in economy but also in other areas. According to the Head of State, he has special hopes for the normalization of relations with the new U.S. administration.

«I’m inclined to think that American President’s, Barack Obama, world view is more adequate and democratic, not burdened by remnants of the Cold War and aggressive ideological approach to international issues», BelTA quotes the words of Alexander Lukashenko.
 
According to Belarusian leader, «Belarus has already begun a prudent conversation» with the current U.S. administration «and ready to give a hand of friendship to American partners». «Our country is interested in developing of full and mutually constructive relations with the most powerful nation in the world. But they should be based on the principles of noninterference in the internal affairs of another state, mutual respect and trust», the President of Belarus noted.
 
Alexander Lukashenko also expressed his regret over the fact that, in recent decades, the relations between Belarus and the U.S. have developed very unevenly and «often were in a state of disappointing alienation». «Though, I want to emphasize — it is not a Belarusian fault», the president said.
 
Alexander Lukashenko believes that «those point economic sanctions, that administration of former U.S. President, George W. Bush, applied to some Belarusian enterprises, still create a negative background for the development of the whole complex of economic and trade ties between the two countries.» «In my opinion, it’s unbecoming for such a state as the United States to use evident economic blackmail towards just forming sovereign state», the Belarusian leader said.
 
Lukashenko welcomes the establishment of business cooperation Council of Belarus and the U.S.
 
Commenting on the initiative of the American part to unite businessmen of Belarus and the United States interested in developing of trade and investment contacts between the countries, Alexander Lukashenko expressed his hope that major American business — coming to Belarus and objectively estimating the prospects and benefits of cooperation — will have positive effects on normalization of bilateral relations.
 
«The arrival in Minsk of the heads of American corporations and companies — world leaders in advanced fields such as engineering, information technology, investment and legal consulting — , will open a new page in the history of the Belarusian-American relations», the President said.
 
According to the Head of State, the aspiration of the American part to cooperate in the sphere of external trade and investment, to be a link between the two peoples is important.
«There are all necessary conditions created in Belarus for that purpose. Besides the socio-political stability and rapid economic development, we have taken unprecedented measures to liberalize and improve all procedures related to business. We create favorable conditions for investors’ activity», Alexander Lukashenko said.

Lukashenko guarantees the authorities’ support to American business

According to Alexander Lukashenko, he also guarantees to American business — came in Belarus  — the support from the government and favorable working conditions, adding that American businessmen — if they have a wish- can essentially assist in the normalization of bilateral relations.
 
«It is abnormal when two civilized states — once fought together against fascism — today are on opposite sides of the fence and sidelong looking at each other «, the Belarusian leader said.

Alexander Lukashenko believes that «there is a large field for activities, starting from construction of aircraft factories, and finishing with construction of nuclear plant» for American businessmen in Belarus. «Belarus is situated in the center of Europe. And if you’re interested in this market, you’ll get the most favorable conditions and be supported», the President said.
 
The President also noted that he was ready to sign a special decree — which grants certain preferences and stipulates the obligations of the parties — on each project brought to Belarus by American businessmen
