Lukashenko is Sure of Ukraine's Support to Belarus

President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, on behalf of the Belarusian people and personally congratulated his Ukrainian counterpart, Viktor Yanukovych, with national holiday — Independence Day. Belarusian leader expressed his firm confidence that relations between Minsk and Kiev would be developed on the basis of mutual trust and support.

Belarusian head of state also stressed strategic nature of partner relations between Ukraine and Belarus and expressed his confidence that it was to continue.

«This date became a turning point in the history of Ukraine, it consolidated the desire of the Ukrainian people to national revival, spiritual freedom and cultural progress», Alexander Lukashenko stressed.

As Telegraf previously reported, on August 24, Ukraine celebrates the 19th anniversary of its independence. This day in 1991, five days after the coup in Moscow, Ukraine left the Soviet Union and declared itself an independent democratic state.

Verkhovna Rada adopted the Act of Ukraine’s Independence, which in December of that year was confirmed by nationwide referendum.
