President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, declared the need to rejuvenate the staff of the country's Armed Forces. In this regard, on August 16, the head of state made new appointments in the Armed Forces. It was reported in the press service of Belarusian leader.

Thus, the head of state appointed Major-General Sergei Potapenko as the Commander of the Western Operational Command, Colonel Alexander Volfovich became his Deputy. Major-General Alexander Mezhuev became the Head of Chief Military Inspectorate of the Armed Forces. Colonel Oleg Belokonev was appointed the Head of Special Operations Forces.

Colonel Andrei Nekrashevich became Deputy Commander of the North-Western Operational Command. Colonel Igor Golubev was appointed Deputy Air Force and Air Defense Commander.

All military officials, appointed to new high-ranking posts, are less than 50 years-old.

«We must rejuvenate commander staff in the country. This is generally a fundamental requirement and it is typical for any time. Especially for us today: even if we swagger and consider ourselves young, the time goes on. And it is very important that we have handed over the governance to young people at all levels», Alexander Lukashenko said.

Military officials who leave their posts should not be stinted, Lukashenko

At the same time, the head of state noted that those who leave the army should be respected. «I would like that when leaving especially military service — the people of the state, as we used to think — would not stinted. This is their whole life. Those who retire, those who you come to replace, were not bad people after all. And I would like them to continue feeling normally», the president of Belarus explained.

Defense Minister of Belarus, Yuri Zhadobin, also believes they must pay close attention to the staffing, including in the Armed Forces. «Nobody eliminated the slogan «The personnel determine everything», and the practice only confirms that very much depends on human resources of the manager», CTV quotes the head of Belarusian Defense Ministry.

Belarus trains military specialist not worse than Russia does, Lukashenko

Among other things, the head of state drew attention to that military professionals should primarily be trained in Belarus in Military Academy, and only by some scarce specialties — in Russia. «We are capable to train not worse than in Russian Academy in many professions. And the fact that many CIS states, who know Soviet and Russian education system, are coming to us, is worth a lot», Alexander Lukashenko said.

«You are future Generals. Ad you know my attitude to the Generals — they are piece goods, if I may say this way, it must be given to a man from the nature. You must be true military men and an example not only for your soldiers — this is trite — you must be an example in society», the president added, referring to the appointed officials.

At the conclusion of the meeting with military officials, Alexander Lukashenko instructed to prepare his visit to a number of formations and units of the Armed Forces of Belarus in near future.
