Today, on June, 22nd, the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko stated at the meeting with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov that he disposed to block transit of the Russian gas to Europe through gas-transport system of the country.

«I have ordered now to the government to block transit through Belarus, until Gazprom pays for transit», the head of the state said, BelTA informed.

According to Alexander Lukashenko, today Gazprom owes to Belarus 260 million dollars for gas transit, but «they haven’t paid us even a penny this year».

The Belarusian leader said that it’s «cynical and absurd» situation when the Russian gas monopolist «blocks the gate because of debt in 190 million dollars when it owes itself to our state 260 million».

Alexander Lukashenko stated that it is not Belarus who doesn’t carry out the contract, «it is they who doesn’t carry out the contract». «We made no complaint, we didn’t talk about it, and their Press Secretary used to mumble that we didn’t sign something and so on», the head of the state said.

The president of Belarus suggests Gazprom to make clearing of debts at which the Russian company owes to Belarus of 70 million dollars.
