Lukashenko Plans to Increase Oil Import from Venezuela in Two Years

Venezuelan oil supplies to Belarus in 2012 are planned to be increased to 10 million tons. It was stated on August 30 by the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, visiting Mozyr oil refinery. According to the President, next year, Belarus plans to receive eight or nine million tons of Venezuelan oil. This year, four millions of oil will be delivered to Belarus from Venezuela.

As Belneftekhim Chairman, Valery Kazakevich, assured Belarusian leader, Belarusian oil refineries could process this volume of raw materials. Both Mozyr and Novopolotsk Naftan are able to process 240 tons of oil a month, and about four million tons a year, BelTA informs.

At the same time, as the director general of Mozyr oil refinery, Anatoly Kupriyanov, said, at the company there organized reconstruction and modernization, which would increase oil processing to five million tons and more annually. «So, we may add oil supplies, particularly, from Venezuela. Belarusian oil refineries are able to process such volumes», Alexander Lukashenko summed up.

As Valery Kazakevich noted, by the end of the year Mozyr oil refinery would reach last year’s amounts, including processing of recyclable materials, and subsequently had opportunities to increase it. «That is, no disaster happened neither from financial, nor from production point of view. But we see the next year even better», the president of Belarus said.

At present, an output of oil refining volume, taking the secondary processes into account, are about 11 million tons per year. Now, the company is actively upgrading. To complete its second phase there should be invested $88.8 million more.

As the head of state was assured, with the commissioning of new facilities in 2012 there was an opportunity to reach the processing of 12 million tons of oil a year. Furthermore, till 2015 the company plans to build several units for black oil distillation, allowing to get high-quality petrol. Raw materials for that are delivered from Kazakhstan. In accordance with the draft program for the development of Mozyr oil refinery, for 2011-2015 it is planned to increase the profoundness of oil refining up to 92% and thus ensure the quality of product, satisfying the requirements of the European Union.
