The next five-year term should be a period of renovation, aimed at a qualitatively new development. This opinion was expressed on Thursday, 16 September, by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at the sixth congress of the Federation of Trade Unions.

Alexander Lukashenko stressed that the Fourth All-Belarus People’s Assembly was to adopt a program of socio-economic development in 2011-2015, BelTA informs.

«It has become a political tradition that the global means, which predetermine the future prospects of the State, is adopted not in someone’s cabinets, even in the highest one, and directly by the people in the persons of whom the people entrust such powers», the president said.

The President also emphasized that a draft program would be presented soon for public discussion, and every citizen will be able to participate in defining the strategy of development of Belarus for the next five years. Alexander Lukashenko is convinced that whatever the scale of the document is, it must be based on real conditions.

«I think this is a clear confirmation of the manifestations of power of the people. It’s not demagoguery, but such a concrete example, which allow any citizen to control the state,» the president said.

The Belarusian leader did not detail the content of the program, but he said that it is very intense and dynamic. «This is what it can be, if our goal is to create a renovated image of Belarus», the head of state said.
