President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that the currency issue would be resolved within a maximum of two months. "We'll forget all the currency turmoil in a month or two," said the head of state.

As Telegraf previously reported, April 5, 2011, the Belarusian leader said that the boom in the foreign exchange market had been triggered by increase in customs duties on cars and would subside in July.

Later, in mid-April, President Alexander Lukashenko explained a shortage of currency in Belarus by raw materials and energy world price rise.

The next day, April 16, the president of Belarus promised to balance the foreign exchange market within a few days. «Today, tomorrow or the day after tomorrow we will align the situation with the currency. But you do not take offense at me. Currency rate is a matter of days, perhaps, a week,» the president said, noting that the worst had already happened in the currency market.
