The president of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko declared on parade in Minsk on Victory Day that "difficult modern conditions make high demands to strengthen the defensibility of our state". "We will take all necessary measures to do this. The basic attention is to be paid to maintain the necessary level of the Armed forces development", the head of the state said.
«Remembering war lessons, we realise that there is nothing more important for us, than maintenance of peace, well-being of the people and independence of the state. This is what our policy is directed to. It is necessary not only to honour a precious heritage, i.e. freedom and independence, but also to protect them by all means from political and economic threats «, the Belarusian leader emphasized.
The president also has expressed «the greatest gratitude» to the veterans, because they «gave a life to us». «You can be assured that the unfading feat of the Soviet people will be always esteemed in Belarus «, Alexander Lukashenko assured.
«The selflessness and courage of those who has stood the hardest tests and won the most severe war of the last century will always be in national memory. The value of that Victory for all mankind is everlasting. It became a symbol of a celebration of a life over death, freedom over slavery, humanism over racism. It embodied fair punishment to aggression and violence, awarded a severe sentence to mad ambitions and ideas about world supremacy», press-service of the President quotes his words.

At the same time according to the Belarusian leader, nowadays there are attempts to revise the history and misrepresent the truth of the Second World War which is that «the Soviet Union played the main role in antifascist struggle».
«Unfortunately, there are many people who tries to replace the paid in millions lives truth for poor substitutes, which slough the value of the Great Feat of our soldiers and guerrillas, blacken the patriots, who struggled for independance of the country», the President of Belarus noted.
«It’s even worse, that such attempts began to become the political tendency. Today it is necessary to do the utmost to stop the revision of history», — Alexander Lukashenko emphasized.
«Then, in 41st, there was not just a conflict of the states and huge military potentials. It was universal fight of the different political systems, opposite moral and cultural wealth. And we have won in it. All the people made a stand for protection the Fatherland. That’s why this war went down in history as the Great Patriotic War», the head of the state declared.
«And today the soldiers of the brotherly Slavic countries stand nip and tuck in the military formations in Minsk, Moscow and Kiev. The memory of a heroic feat — is sacred. However to avoid tragical mistakes, it is necessary to draw correct conclusions from the past experience. We urge all countries of the world not to ignore the new calls and dangerous tendencies which threaten our safety», the Belarusian leader said.
