President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko made a number of changes and additions to certain documents concerning Belarusian citizenship. Thus, in particular, the reasons to dismiss the appeals for citizenship were clarified. The corresponding decree № 422 was signed on August 13 by the head of the state.

As the presidential press service informs, changes in the documents were necessary to bring them into conformity with the law on the legal status of foreign citizens and stateless persons in Belarus, as well as with the adopted in 2010 decree on the administrative arrangements concerning foreign nationals and stateless persons.
The new decree provides for denial of applications for citizenship obtainment by the persons who have a criminal record for committing crimes, regardless of the gravity of crime, and those who were repeatedly the subject to administrative liability in Belarus.
Moreover, the decree regulates the refusal of Belarusian citizenship by minor children without terminating the citizenship of their parents in order to implement the constitutional right of minors to change their nationality. Such a solution may be accomplished at the request of parents or a single parent, which is transmitted to the President of Belarus in the internal affairs bodies or the bodies of the diplomatic service.
In addition, the decree defined the acquisition, transfer of possession, keeping, storage, usage, import and export to Belarus of weapons and ammunition stateless. Also, a presidential decree granted the right to stateless persons to receive training, retraining and advanced training at the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus, as well as to defend a dissertation.
