Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko thanked the Chinese leader Hu Jintao for the assistance of the Celestial Empire to Minsk during his visit to the country on October 11.
According to RIA Novosti, the Belarusian president expressed his admiration for the achievements of economic and social development of China. «Belarus is deeply satisfied with the development of bilateral relations with China and is grateful for the invaluable assistance,» Lukashenko said.
He noted that Minsk «will continue its policy of partnership with China.» Lukashenko also expressed hope for China to actively expand investments in Belarus.
In turn, President Hu Jintao suggested expanding cooperation in all areas, especially in large projects and high-tech sector.
«While overcoming the financial crisis, the volume of bilateral trade has increased, but we need to catch this moment to expand cooperation areas and promote large projects, deepen cooperation in hi-tech sector and improve the construction of industrial parks, it is necessary to maintain the trend of stable economic relations development and at the same time promoting cultural exchanges, cooperation in such areas as education, sport and tourism,» President Hu Jintao said.
