Lukashenko to be the Only Candidate Without Me, Gaydukevich

Leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus Sergei Gaydukevich said that all opposition politicians, claimed for the presidency, will run off the distance. "Should not I go to the polls and the current president will be the only candidate in the ballot," Sergei Gaydukevich said.

«It’s perfectly clear. Applicants, knowing of their weak chances (1%), won’t legitimize this regime. And who decides everything? Gaydukevich. Imagine for a moment that I do not exist, and how will all this be done? That’is the point. I will send the registration lists of the action group — ten thousand people — and will look around. Then I’ll think what to do,» the leader of the LDPB declared. 

Sergei Gaidukevich believes that in order to win the election such factors as people who support the candidate, the degree of candidate’s recognition among the voters are very important, the Belarusian service of Deutsche Welle reports. «According to my information, the most famous person in the current presidential campaign, not counting one, is Gaydukevich. The names of the others, if you turn off the Internet, 99% of the population is unable to call,» the politician said.

In this regard, potential candidate for the presidency believes that candidates should be given more TV airtime for coverage of their election program. Moreover, according to the politician, the speech should be given a prime-time on the leading channels, so that the greatest number of voters could hear the candidate.

Sergei Gaydukevich also believes that the money allocated from state budget to the candidates is not enough for their effective campaign. «The money for the campaign is allocated from the budget after receiving the candidate’s certificate. And what this money gives? This is one-hundredth of the funds needed to print the leaflets. Receipt of this money, sending it to the printing plant takes 10-15 days. There are 6 million voters in the country. The CEC money allows to print only 40,000,» the politician noted.

Despite this, Gaydukevich stated that he would held a full-fledged presidential campaign. «I’m a party leader, people can gather signatures for their leader and FREE. And I really hope to fight and win. And the way the rest will solve their funding issues is their business,» the head of LDPB concluded.
