Ex-presidential candidate Dmitri Uss to be sentenced on May 26 "in the case 19 December" believes that incumbent President won't run for the next presidential elections. "I think Lukashenko won't stand for the next election as the economic situation is critical. Where have you seen potatoes cost Br3 thousand per kilogram?" he said.

«As for politics, no civilized nation will talk to us as well. People, supporting him now, will criticize him severely in two or three years. He’s created a consumer society. People are not used to working, but sitting and getting money. And now this all will stop,» said the politician, reports «Nasha Niva.»

Dmitri Uss recons that Alexander Lukashenko will probably make a greater emphasis on economics before the elections, rather than his opponents’ harassment.» «There were a few broken windows and doors. Having examined the bottle with some liquid, it turned out to be water. This proves it to have  been planted. It is interesting that the alleged 40 riot police were injured, but no one, responsible for beating them, was detained. Although there are surveillance cameras at the Government House. The prosecutor refused to use this video in the case, which had been fabricated to blame the innocent candidates,» the politician stressed.

There’ll be Economic Sanctions in case of our Imprisonment, Uss

Ex-candidate noted that judges and prosecutors in courts over the opposition are just pawns. «It all depends on Lukashenko’s mood. Why the sentenced is being now postponed? They must be afraid to fail,» he said.

«I think if we are jailed, Europe will introduce economic sanctions,» said Dmitri Uss, noting that he is not going to flee from Belarus.

«The opposition does not understand fully the importance of changes in electoral law. There’s no fair vote counting. They’re lying to opposition, as well as to voters. Power is not interested in changes, as it’ll lose control then. If I were Tereshchenko, Rymashevuki or Romanchuk, I would have been given two years of probation and that’s it. I suggest opposing system to system. This is the only way to win,» said the former candidate.

According to him, collecting signatures to amend the electoral law will begin in fall. «I plan to collect a million signatures,» he said.
