President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, wrote another letter outlining Minsk's position in gas conflict with Russia. It was addressed to the Secretary of State of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, Pavel Borodin. It was reported by the Secretary's spokesman, Ivan Makushok.

In his letter, Belarusian leader emphasized that gas dispute had arisen not in recent years, but it was «only a part of the unfriendly policy, systematically carried out against Belarus in recent years», the web-site of the Union State informs.

The president of Belarus stressed that «Russia’s leadership actually estimates the sanctity of brotherhood in cubic meters of gas and barrels of oil» as evidenced by the fact that Gazprom had repeatedly «silently gazed at billions of other states’ debts, accumulated over the years», unlike the resent conflict with Minsk caused by the debt of 186.7 million dollars.

Belarusian head of state also drew attention of Pavel Borodin to one-sided coverage of the conflict in Russian mass media, which reported nothing about Gazprom’s debt for the transit. «And in fact it was much higher than the amount of our debt, reaching 259.8 million dollars», Alexander Lukashenko noted.

In connection with mentioned above, Belarusian leader urged Russian authorities to be guided in bilateral relations by the principle of «strict compliance with taken obligations by all parties without exceptions, limitations and free interpretation» and «not to sacrifice historical fraternal relations between our nations for personal ambitions and immediate interests».

The president of Belarus also expressed his confidence that politicians would be able to do everything to prevent fracture of fraternal ties and breaking of union ties.

In his turn, the Secretary of State of the Union State urged not to transfer the debate of economic entities into political sphere and expressed hope for an adequate resolution of gas conflict, which, according to Pavel Borodin, should not be an obstacle for union building, Ivan Makushok said.
