Lukashenko's Inauguration may Take Place on January 21, CEC

Inauguration Alexander Lukashenko, reelected for the fourth time president of Belarus on December 19, 2010, may be held on January 21. This was stated by Secretary of the Central Election Commission of Belarus Nikolai Lozovik. New president's inauguration ceremony must be held within two months after the elections under the Constitution of the country, that is by February 19. 

Nikolai Lozovik notes that January 21 is not yet the finally approved date. Nevertheless, according to the CEC Secretary, the preparations for the inauguration is already underway, reports the Belarusian service of Radio «Liberty

As Telegraf previously reported, chairman of the Central Election Commission Lidia Yermoshina had formerly announced that inauguration of Alexander Lukashenko could be held on January 14, 2011. Let’s remind that according to the official results, President Alexander Lukashenko won a landslide victory in the elections with 79.65% of the vote.

However, not everybody is agree on the official results. Thus, ex-presidential candidate of the BPF Ryhor Kastusiou filed an application to the Supreme Court of Belarus to reconsider the decision of the Central Election Commission to recognize the results of presidential elections. Nevertheless the court rejected a request of the candidate to review the results on January 11.
