Medvedev Not to Accept Payment of Gas Debt "neither in Pies, nor in Butter, nor in Cheese"

Russian President, Dmitry Medvedev, instructed Gazprom chairman, Alexei Miller, to begin to limit gas supplies to Belarus. According to the Kremlin's head, Belarus' offer to repay gas debt in goods but not in currency is contrary to Russian laws, and thus Russian leadership can not accept it.

Gazprom can not accept the payment for debt neither in pies, nor in butter, nor in cheese, nor in other means of payments», Russian leader said, RIA Novosti informs.

Alexei Miller, in his turn, reported to Dmitry Medvedev, that Gazprom «under the contract» should impose the limitation of gas supplies in proportion to the debt volume, and it will happen this morning, June 21.

«Start to implement the respective procedure, interacting with Belarusian partners and making them to perform the contract and under the rules, Gazprom has with other counteractors», the Russia’s president instructed the head of the company.

Russian leader also entrusted to notify Russia’s contractors about the decision to limit gas supplies to Belarus. «And to continue consultations with Belarus in accordance with the conditions, we have agreed with them», Dmitry Medvedev added.
