Medvedev Reminds about Lukashenko's Promise to Recognize Abkhazia and South Ossetia

Earlier, in the presence of the heads of several CIS countries Belarusian President, Alexander Lukashenko, stated about his will to recognize Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Russian President, Dmitry Medvedev, reminded about it on August 3, in Sochi.

According to Russian leader, Russia is interested in international recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, but this is not an end in itself for the country. «There is no such a task and never has been», the head of Russian state said, RIA Novosti informs.

Nevertheless, according to Dmitry Medvedev, Alexander Lukashenko himself expressed a desire to recognize Abkhazia and South Ossetia. «He said: «I promise solemnly that I’ll do everything in a very short time», Russian president reminded.
