A member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament from the German Green party, Werner Schulz, called on the international community to suspend all financial assistance to Belarus until "radical reforms" are conducted in the country. "Any economic assistance will only play into hands of Lukashenko system and aggravate the problems and fears of the civilian population," said the MEP.

He enumerated conditions under which economic assistance could be provided, including the cessation of gross violations of human rights, the repeal of all unjust court decisions, release of political prisoners and the beginning of «real» democratic process, according to Russian service of Deutsche Welle.

Werner Schulz puts full responsibility for the economic crisis in Belarus on President Alexander Lukashenko. «He has undermined not only the political foundation of the state, but also its economy,» said the deputy.
