In the result of water levels' rising in Sozh river, homestead on some Gomel streets are waterlogged. It was reported in the press service of Gomel regional department of emergency situations. At the moment, MES and OSVOD put its posts on the streets of the regional center. The rescuers are on clock duty and provide necessary assistance to the population.
According to the rescuers, waterlogged areas are in river’s coastal area. The MES assured that such kind of a situation is traditional here during the flood, BelTA informs.
As Telegref previously reported, overflowed Pripyat river cut off several settlements from the «big land». Mordvin, Snyadin, Torgoshin, Belin villages with a total population of 300 people turned into islands. The products for local stores are now being brought by MES boats. Dozens of villages are waterlogged. In Zhitkovichi and Petrikov districts the caution water level is exceeded by more than 20 centimeters.
Every day, Pripyat rises its waters by an average of five centimeters. In width, it spread over five kilometers. The rescuers are on duty in all areas of flood caution. If it’s necessary, they are ready to evacuate people.
