Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church headed by Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Kirill, decided not to give a rest to Metropolitan of Minsk and Slutsk, Filaret (Vakhromeev), the Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus under submitted petition.

Thus, the 75-year-old head of Belarusian Exarchate of the ROC will continue to lead the Belarusian Orthodox Church, BelTA informs.

As Telegraf previously reported, Metropolitan Filaret filed a petition for retirement on May 24.
«Under the Regulations of the ROC any bishop, reached the age of 75 years, has to file an application for retirement in the name of patriarch. Taking into account the views of the Holy Synod, Patriarch has a right to accept this petition or reject it», explained the responsible for media relations of the Belarusian Exarchate, Archimandrite Alexy (Shinkevich).

The Holy Synod is the body of administrative management of the ROC. It permanently includes the heads of the most important eparchies.
