MFA Simplifies Visas Issue in Connection with Closure of Airports in Europe

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus temporarily simplified Belarusian exit visas' issue in connection with the closure of airports and airspace in some European countries due to volcanic ashes clouds from volcanic eruptions in Iceland. "As a result of force majeure, many foreigners — airline's passengers are forced to stay on the territory of Belarus", informed in Ministry.

However, as stressed in Belarusian Foreign Ministry, some foreign citizens have expired Belarusian visas.

«Taking in account the extraordinary nature of the incident and its consequences, the main consular department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the concurrence of Department of Citizenship and Migration of Interior Ministry, introduced temporary simplification of Belarusian visas issue for foreigners from April 16 to 20», reads the statement of Ministry’s press service.

Thus, foreign citizens who have «travel document with Belarusian visa expired, must apply to the subdivisions of Citizenship and Migration at their place of residence on weekdays or on Saturday or to the Department of Citizenship and Migration of Minsk City police office of Minsk City Executive Committee (48 B Nezavisimosti ave, Minsk, 220005,tel. 331-91-74) on Sunday».

«It is necessary to have documents proving the existence of possible departure from the territory of Belarus till the period of visa expiration (e.g. expired air tickets, confirmation of the actual booking of tickets)», informed in Ministry.
