MIA Drew up Protocols for 130 Participants of "Silent Solidarity"

130 people got their administrative reports drawn up in connection with participation in unauthorized mass actions on June 29, 2011. This was stated at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus on June 30.

The Interior Ministry reminded that a youth action «Young Belarus,» organized by the Minsk City Council and the Public Association «Belarusian Republican Youth Union,» was held on Kastrychnitskaya Square in Minsk from 18:00 to 20:30 on June 29. In total, the event was attended by more than four thousand inhabitants and guests.

«Around the same time (19:00) groups of citizens of 30-70 people began to gather on Kastrychnitskaya Square and adjacent streets. Later, they move to Independence Avenue from Engels st. to Kupala st., as well as from House of Officers towards Kupala st. with further intention to go to Victory Square,» told in the department.

«The groups were joined by other citizens. The yhad no attributes on them, however, they’re loudly shouting at the police, using foul language. They were interfering with the passage of pedestrians on sidewalks, making noise, attracting the attention of passers-by by clapping, thrusting law enforcement and going into the roadway,» the Interior Ministry.

«Similar actions were taken by other small groups in downtown. As a result, the most active violators of law and order were brought to the capital’s police station for identification, while other citizens dispereced,» the Interior Ministry.

According to the Ministry, about 350 people took part in the unsanctioned event from 19:00 to 20:05 in Minsk.

On the same day other attempts to gather people were recorded in other cities of the country, told in the department. As a result, the internal affairs authorities detained 269 people for identification, 130 of which had their administrative reports drawn up under Art. 17.1 (disorderly conduct), 23.4 (disobeying a lawful order or requirement of an official on duty) and 23.24 (violation of order or organization of mass action or picketing) of the «Administrative Offences Code»of the Republic of Belarus with their further direction to the court, reported in Belarusian Interior Ministry.
