Militia Clears a Number of ATM Robberies

Militia officers cleared several cases of ATM robbery in different regions of the country, informed sources of law enforcement. Thanks to investigative procedures, militia detained two men — citizens of Minsk and Borisov — who robbed an ATM of JSC "BPS-Bank" on January 25, situated in Zavodskoy district of Minsk, on Rotmistrova street.

«Then malefactors stole 202 million rubles. A criminal case on p.4 art.205 (» Theft «) of the Criminal Code of Belarus was initiated on the fact. These two men are also being suspected in an attempted of another ATM («Belarusbank») robbery in Minsk, in August 2009″, reported  militia, according to BelTA.

Militia officers also detained a four-people group — all are Bobruisk residents. «They are suspected of ATM «Belagroprombank» robbery, committed on February 12, 2010, in Klichev district, Mogilev region. There are previously judged among those detained», noted by militia, adding that the group is also accused of stealing money from the local post office, which took place on January 10, the same year.

As Telegraf previously reported, cases of ATM and exchange office robberies in Belarus become recently more frequent. December 10, 2009, there was found dead body of currency exchange cashier — 21-year-old girl, Minsk resident — in Minsk «Avtozavodskij» supermarket, on Varvasheni street. As it was found out later, $ 35-million-rubles receipts was stolen from the exchange office.

February 2, at night, a group of unidentified persons entered the building of Vitebsk city polyclinic № 2. The robbers forced an ATM of «Belinvestbank» inside and stole the money from it.
