Ministry of Economy Promises to Rise Average Salary to $ 500 by the End of the Year

Deputy Minister of Economy of Belarus, Andrei Tur, declared that the nominal monthly wage in Belarus will be about $ 500 in equivalent by the end of 2010. "This year's salary in the sectors of material production will increase due to output growth, costs decrease, profitability increase, economic efficiency's improvement", the deputy minister explained.

Regarding the public sector, then, according to Andrei Tur, there state regulation of wages remains, basing on changes in tariff rates of the first class.

«Thus, in 2010, the nominal gross average wage in national economy in total will grow by 23-25% to 1.225 — 1.247 million rubles. Including, in December, respectively, it will increase by 39% to about 1.465 million rubles. When dollar exchange rate us 2.929 thousand rubles per dollar, it should be equal to desired conversion at 500 dollars», the representative of Ministry of Economy said.

Andrei Tur reminded that in 2010, GDP growth should reach 111-112%. According to Deputy Minister, it will be achieved by increasing the volume of industrial production in key industries, construction and trade, BelTA informs.

«The growth rate of industrial output should reach 110-112%, this year. At the same time, we’re taking measures to reduce energy intensity of goods, works and services, we’re expanding exports and improving the law on privatization of state property and business development», Andrei Tur said.

Deputy Economy Minister noted that investment in fixed assets should increase by 23-25%, and it will be achieved through the increase of direct foreign investment.

According to Andrei Tur, these measures will give the possibility to affect the economy’s structure — making it more flexible, market demand-oriented -, innovations, increase of the part of industries with high added value, reduction of import intensity.
