The Ministry for Emergency Situations said that the cause of the fire at the woodworking factory in Pinsk could be an explosion of wood dust deposits in the result of violations of operating the wood pellets production equipment. This was reported in the press service of Emergencies Ministry.
The emergency commission of Pinsk City Executive Committee, the Ministry of Emergencies and the Prosecutor’s Investigation Office of Brest voblast are currently working at the scene, BelTA informs.
Having inspected the building, where the explosion had occurred, fire experts found him alert. «Further inspection of the site will be conducted after removing the damaged buildings’ cover plates. The work is scheduled for the morning of October 26,» Emergencies Ministry reported.
However, the «Holding Company Pinskdrev» has not stopped the process, the company will continue to supply chipboard due to the related companies.
According to Telegraf, the rescuers were informed on the explosion about 13:00. Having arrived at the scene, they found that the explosion had brought down about 100 square meters of floor.
In the result of the accident three people died. The remaining 18 victims are now in hospitals of Brest, Minsk and Pinsk, 14 of them are placed in the intensive care unit with heavy burns.
The prosecutor’s office of Brest voblast opened a criminal case in accordance with Article №302 Part 2 of the Criminal Code (violation of safety rules at an explosive enterprise).
