Ministry of Finance Names Top-Five of the Largest Enterprises in Belarus

Belarusian Ministry of Finance has named the five largest public companies in Belarus on the basis of last year. According to the Department of Securities of Finance Ministry, they are Naftan, Mozyr Oil Refinery, MAZ, Grodno Azot and Belshina.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the largest public company in Belarus is Naftan, with revenue for last year of 7.13 trillion rubles (2.36 billion dollars). However, the company’s profit in 2009 totaled about 153 billion rubles (50.7 million dollars). The average number of employees is about 12.3 thousand people, PRIME-TASS informs.

In the list of the largest Belarusian enterprises Naftan is followed by Mozyr Oil Refinery, with revenue in 2009 of almost 4.9 trillion rubles (1.62 billion dollars), and profit — 203.33 billion rubles (67.3 million dollars), what is 16.6 million dollars more than Naftan has. The number of company’s employees the last year was about 4.16 thousand people.

According to the Department of Securities, the third place is occupied by MAZ, with revenue in 2009 of 1.833 trillion rubles (607.5 million dollars) and profit — 80.97 billion rubles (26.8 million dollars). The average number of enterprise’s employees was about 21 thousand people.

The fourth place among the largest Belarusian public companies over the past year is taken by Grodno Azot, with revenue in 2009 of 1.681 trillion rubles (557.1 million dollars), and profit — 45.27 billion rubles (about15 million dollars). Average number of employees at Grodno-Azot in the past year was about 7.23 thousand people.

Belshina ranks the fifth among the largest Belarusian enterprises, with revenues totaled 1.395 trillion rubles (462.3 million dollars) last year and profit — 12.8 billion rubles (4.2 million dollars). The average number of employees in 2009 was about 12.85 thousand.

Here are other companies, presented in top-20 of largest Belarusian public companies. The sixth place — MAPID (total revenues for last year amounted to 386.1 million dollars), the seventh place — Mogilevkhimvolokno (362.9 million dollars), the eight — Gomel Chemical Plant (189.5 million dollars), the ninth — MMP (185.2 million dollars) and the tenth — Savushkin product (173.8 million dollars).
