The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Belarus regrets that the gas conflict with Russia "became so large-scale and acute". The head of the Department for Information informed on it, Andrei Savinykh, Press Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, said at a briefing on June, 24th.

According to the official representative of the Belarus foreign policy department, it is necessary for both parties in gas dispute «to show common sense and ability to negotiate structurally all the questions which are disputable».

«We expect that the managing subjects involved in this process as soon as possible will manage to come to the agreements which will be adequate and will also correspond to a high level of political and friendly contacts between our countries and the people», Andrey Savinykh said.

As Telegraf informed, Belarus on behalf of the First Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko set Gazprom a term till 13:00 on June, 24th to repay a balance of debt for gas transit through Belarus. If Moscow does not pay additional 32 million dollars more in addition to the amount of transferred 228 million dollars, Minsk promises to reduce gas transit to Europe in the volume proportional to an outstanding amount.

In turn, Gazprom insists that Belarus has no right to require transit payment under the tariff 1.74 dollars for transit of thousand cubic metre on hundred kilometers. According to the terms of the contract, as Gazprom says,  Beltransgaz should impose a wholesale extra charge on the gas sold in the country to increase the transit rate.
