Lonely Planet, which is the world's largest guide, included Minsk in the top-ten of most attractive holiday destinations in Eastern Europe, ranking Belarusian capital as the 10th. The ranking's authors believe that "Minsk will certainly surprise you".

«Despite its very sad-sounding name, the capital of Belarus is remarkably progressive and modern place. There are stylish cafes, restaurants with wi-fi, overcrowded bars and night clubs competing for your attention. Sushi bars and art galleries are located in the heart of the city, completely reconstructed in accordance with Stalin’s tastes. In the city there are relatively little traditional sights but there are a myriad number for those who are fascinated by the Soviet period, as well as a lot of places which allow you to feel as at home and have fun when the night comes to the city», stressed in Lonely Planet.

First place in the ranking is occupied by Slovenian Julian Alps. They are followed by: the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sarajevo, Croatian island of Mljet, Moldovan historical and archeological complex of Old Orhei, the capital of Estonia Tallinn, Czech castle Loket, Polish city of Torun, Slovak Žďár and Latvian capital Riga.
