Acting Chairman of Minsk City Executive Committee, Nikolai Ladutko, said that Minsk did not lose anything because of kiosks' liquidation at bus stops. According to the official, there are not less possibilities to buy food for city dwellers after the closure of kiosks. "Organization of trade in kiosks can not be attributed to the civilized forms of trade. Sanitary service had a lot of complaints about the quality of goods ", Nikolai Ladutko emphasized.

«In Minsk, there are about 2.8 thousand stores, 60% of which are nonfood. There is an active process of large shopping centers’ construction. For example, in April, a large shopping center — which will offer a wide choice of goods (about 50 thousand items) — opens in Chizhovka. This is not a choice that kiosks can offer», the Acting Chairman of Minsk City Executive Committee said, BelTA informs.

According to Nikolai Ladutko, closing of the kiosks did not cause fluctuations in the labor market, because of the fact that the number of individual entrepreneurs in Minsk has not diminished for three years, but increased by ten thousand. The official assures that there are enough opportunities for self-realization, earning money today.

Regarding turnover volume, however, its increase in January-February 2009 amounted to 6.7%, according to the Acting Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee.
