According to the Russian diplomat, only then the parties will get down «to a specific conversation about the possibility of lending,» reports to RIA «Novosti» news agency.

Speaking on the outcome of negotiations between the Finance Minister of Belarus and Russia, taken place a few days ago in Moscow, Alexander Surikov said that Belarus had asked the Russian government for $1billion, as well as the Stabilization Fund of the Eurasian Economic Community — for $2 billion.

«During the talks, they discussed the general position of providing credit to Belarus and the specific measures of the Belarusian side, associated with the possibility of reforming the economy and, in particular, budget cuts, as well as state programs for stabilization of monetary and fiscal policy,» said the Russian ambassador in Minsk.

«As far as I know, the Belarusian side is satisfied with the results of the first meeting with Kudrin (Russian finance minister Aleksei Kudrin — Telegraf),» said Alexander Surikov.
