The Head of Tourism Department of the Ministry of Sports and Tourism of Belarus Viktor Yankovenko reported that the number of elite hotels designed to receive VIP guests will be doubled to the Ice Hockey World Championship in 2014, which to be held in the capital. According to the head of department it is planned to build six "4" and "5" stars hotel units .

«The number of placements will increase by approximately 40% from 870 to 1,5 thousand, and it is not accidental — told Victor Yankovenko —  roughly so many VIP-guests attended prior hockey championships.

Director of the Department also noted that, by the end of 2013 is planned to build in Minsk several hotels designed for middle class guests, which will also significantly expand the hotel assets of Belarusian capital. Foreign visitors will also live in the hotels located with a distance of 50 kilometers from the city, BelTA.

«Transportation will be organized to every hotel, it would be no problem to get to the place of competition»- said Victor Yankovenko, adding that some fans will be able to sleep in youth hostels.

Director of the Department emphasized that the majority of visitors will be the fans of participating teams. «If, say, the Polish team did not pass qualification, the Poles are unlikely to go to Belarus during the world hockey championship 2014. So, first of all, we expect visitors from countries that are traditionally strong in hockey, including Canada, Sweden, Russia and the United States «, — summarized Victor Yankovenko.
