Head of the Belarusian government Mikhail Miasnikovich says that the economy needs major structuring. "We're actually missing funds from the exports to ensure consumer, intermediate or investment imports," he said on January 27, speaking in the House of Representatives.

«We need to qualitatively change the structure of the economy, to pay more attention to the production competitiveness, as well as to reduce the import,» said the Prime Minister. He also stated that the Council of Ministers would ask the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic to support this decision, BelTA informs.

The government should reach the parameters, set at the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly, during the next six months of 2011, recalled Mikhail Miasnikovich. He noted that one would need to work hard in order to ensure the promising economic growth in the Republic. «We need an increase of 1.7 times to reach a relatively high base level,» said the head of the Council of Ministers.

He added that the government would make every effort to better meet the requirements of the president and the wishes of the people as quickly as possible.
